The Zoe Fund: A Partnership with AEC BellinghamThe Zoe Fund provides assistance to low-income individuals whose pets need emergency veterinary care. Through working with Animal Emergency Care, Bellingham (AEC) to fundraise in 2022 and beyond, Shadow’s Forever Friends will assist in a community-wide effort to make emergency veterinary care available, when the need is greatest, to as many families as possible.
The Zoe Fund also helps finance and facilitate FREE Pet Wellness Clinics throughout Whatcom County where dogs & cats can receive core vaccinations (including rabies), microchipping, food, and parasite control at no charge to their human. A major part of our organization’s mission is to advocate for those animals who are most in need. Shadow’s Forever Friends is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization founded by Zoe’s parents, Jenn & Jason Sonker, to help animals in their local community. |

The Zoe Fund Has Helped over 100 ANIMALS experiencing emergencies and it has prevented emergency needs for almost 1,200 pets since it was created in January 2022.

MajorYour donations go to dogs like Major. In January, this German Shepherd came to AEC with a lacerated forelimb from a snowboard’s edge. His wound was actively hemorrhaging from a major vessel of the forepaw which required immediate intervention. Major would have died without surgery. Through the use of $839 in donations from The Zoe Fund, Major’s life was saved!

KipYour donations go to cats like Kip. Sometimes unforeseen home issues happen to the best pet owners. When Kip’s family’s A/C unexpectedly stopped working in late June, their home started to heat up. By the time his owner returned home, Kip was overheated and immediately brought into AEC. In situations like this, heat stroke and even death can occur, especially with older pets. The Zoe Fund was there for Kip’s family, though, and he was able to receive immediate, life-saving treatment, then fully recover at home!
