After losing Shadow unexpectedly in a tragic accident on June 4, 2011 Jason & Jenn wanted to do something to help other dogs who would follow footsteps similar to hers in their lives. They decided to have a hike-a-thon fundraiser on Saturday June 25, 2011 to benefit the Whatcom Humane Society, the shelter she had been adopted from. Shadow’s dad trekked 4 difficult hikes (twice up Tiger Mountain, twice up Oyster Dome) in that single day, and completed a one-mile walk at Lake Padden (her favorite off-leash park) in her honor, supported by friends & family members along the way.
Since then, the Shadow Hike-A-Thon has grown into a week-long, annual event that wouldn’t be possible without the continued support of family, friends, and the local community…especially the Bellingham beer community!
